John 20:19-23 · Jesus Appears to His Disciples

19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

21 Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven."

“Love begins with emotional connection. If you want to love and be loved, you must release the lock on your heart.”

How many of you have used a combination lock? These are little but mighty devices. They look so small and insignificant. And yet, these little locks can be powerful deterrents to everything from thieves to curious toddlers –and to you when they are locking away something vitally important that you need to access and you forget the combination to the lock! The following event I’m going to relay to you reminds me of something that might happen to “Tim the Toolman Taylor,” for any of you who remember that popular 90s show. We laughed out loud at his tool-related mishaps. His absent-minded antics made us shake our heads and smile. In real life, however, it didn’t feel so funny.
