Luke 21:1-4 · The Widow’s Offering

1 As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 "I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."

(The Storytellers are seated at stage left and stage right. In the center of the stage are two small benches. Mr. Cabot, Waitress, and Nurse sit upstage, facing away from the audience until they "enter." Snuffy Pete is seated on the right bench, with stomach extended, looking stuffed and uncomfortable)

Storyteller 1: Snuffy Pete took his seat on the second bench as you enter Union Station from the east. Every Christmas Day, for nine years, he had taken his seat there promptly at one o'clock. Every time he had done so, things had happened to him -
