Object: A magnifying glass

Good morning, boys and girls. How many of you have ever worked or played with a magnifying glass? (Let them answer.) A lot of you! I brought one along with me so that we could look through one and see how helpful it is for seeing something that would be hard to see without it. (Take out the magnifying glass and read some very small print or look at the particles that make up a page of paper.) Isn't that something, that a piece of glass can help us see so much that we might miss if we did not use it? For some people a magnifying glass is really important in their work. I know that jewelers use them to work on watches, and doctors use them in some operations. Other people find them just as important.
