Good morning, boys and girls. How many of you know what the word patient means? I don’t mean someone who is sick or in the hospital whom we call a patient, but I mean being patient. Now do you know what the word means? [Let them answer.] Patience is something that most of us must learn. It doesn’t come easy. I have something that I think will help to explain patience and show you how you can become patient.

How many of you have ever tried to knit, or have watched your mother knit? It isn’t easy, is it? You have to pay a lot of attention to what you are doing and you must have just so many stitches on each row and follow all kinds of directions. It doesn’t go very fast, either.…
