On Thursday evening, in the darkness of an olive orchard.  Jesus had asked for the support of his disciples.  In particular, he had asked for the support of Peter, James and John while he went a little distance away.  He went off to pray for relief from the necessity to drink from the cup of suffering he could see before him.
