Good morning, boys and girls. Have any of you been reading stories lately about the Titanic? Remember the stories in the newspapers and magazines, and on television, about the Titanic last year? This big ship seemed so big and safe that nobody sailing on it was worried about it ever sinking. But then the Titanic ran into a lot of ice in the middle of the night, and it began to sink.

Did anybody get saved from the Titanic? (Let them answer.) That's right. A lot of people did. Did anybody on the Titanic drown that night? (Let them answer.) The sad part of the story is that more people drowned than got saved. But let's think about the people who were saved that night. How did it happen? (Talk about the rescue with the children.)
