When a young child hears music for the first time, the response is to sing and dance. It’s automatic. No one has to teach them. They simply hear the music, and then they bob, they sway, they bounce, they sing along, “la,la,la,la,la!” Even in the womb and in the crib, we love music. As parents, we encourage this as we provide musical “soothers,” wind-up music boxes, musical toys, nursery rhyme songs. From the time before we are born, we know down deep, we are “musical” people.
