Purpose: To encourage children to stick with a task until it is finished.
Materials: Two pencils or sticks and a piece of string; the ends of which are tied to the two sticks.
Lesson: With the help of these two pencils (or sticks) and this piece of string tied between them, we can see proof of the fact that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. The length of the cord is fixed and as we hold the two points as far apart as possible, we see that a straight line is formed.
