The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is one of the great caring ministries in the world, and well it might be.  Its founder, General William Booth, went blind in his later years.  His son, Bramwell, broke the news to him.  “You mean I’m blind?” the General asked.

“I fear that we must contemplate that,” his son replied.

“I shall never see your face again?” asked the General.

“No, probably not in this world,” the son replied.

The old man’s hand moved across the counter and grasped his son’s. “Bramwell,” he said, “I’ve done what I could for God and for people with my eyes.  Now I shall do what I can for God and for people without my eyes.”

We will never be defeated in life if we take control of our circumstances, rather than allowing them to control us.
