The late columnist, Sydney Harris, put his finger on the real meaning of Christmas when he wrote that the real meaning can be summed up in two sentences from Jesus' lips: "If anyone says 'I love God' and hates his neighbor, he is a liar." John 4:20 and "Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to me." Matthew 25:40.

He went on to say, "You cannot love God without loving every fellow creature He made; and an act of contempt or rejection or injustice or neglect towards the least, the lowest, the weakest, the dumbest, the poorest, is an act against Him."
