I live next door to what could almost be called an international house. It was owned by a university mathematics professor when my wife and I bought our home. When he went to Europe on sabbatical leave, he rented the home to a visiting professor of mathematics from France. Later, he rented to a German family for a year, and a Danish family will be living in it for awhile, although a different family - presently in Switzerland on a two year business assignment - currently owns it. The Danish family was invited to a wedding in a local Lutheran Church; their daughter was a bridesmaid for another Danish girl who was being married.
