The Kings of Judah: 3:10–16 The subsection presents the genealogy of Solomon, David’s chosen son, who became king after him. The first part (3:10–14) follows a linear pattern, listing all the kings of Judah up to Josiah. In this construction Josiah descends by a direct line from Solomon, who stands at the beginning of this list. This foreshadows the narrative arc drawn in Chronicles from Solomon to Josiah.
There are no variations in order in this first part of the genealogy compared to the descriptions we find in the books of Kings.
