Object: An ear of corn.

Good morning, boys and girls. How many of you watch the corn grow? (Let them answer.) If you lived near the country you would watch it a lot, but when you live in the city, it is sometimes hard to find someone who grows corn near you. Corn seems to grow very fast in the beginning. At least the part that is called the stalk and the leaves does. It is tall and green, but nobody seems to care too much about the stalk and the leaves. The people who grow corn watch another part of the corn plant while it is growing. Do you know the important part of a corn plant? (Let them answer.) That's right, it is called the ear.
