28:6–14 Aaron would wear the ephod (ʾepod)as a vest-like outer garment. It was probably knee-length, as it had a waistband but had to be short enough to see the significant hem of the robe underneath it. It was probably open under the arms since the text says that the shoulder pieces held the front and back together. The garment was to be made with gold, and with blue, purple and scarlet material, which is as ambiguous in English as it is in Hebrew.
