The Division of Priests: 24:1–19 It already became clear in the previous subsections that the two sons of Amram, namely Aaron and Moses, were considered very important. The following description of Aaron was given there (23:13): “Aaron was set apart, he and his descendants forever, to consecrate the most holy things, to offer sacrifices before the LORD, to minister before him and to pronounce blessings in his name forever.” No other member of the Levite families is given such an elaborate description. This description made it clear that the Aaronites would form the cultic clergy.
