Death of a gracious hostess

The meditation text is John 14:2: "In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?"

Doubtless everyone one of us here has a place at a special table in our home's kitchen or dining room. It's a "reserved seat" in a way, a place that is natural and right for us. Occasionally. when company comes, we may have to shift our seat a little, and when we do, it feels funny. The food is just as good, maybe better, but "our place" looks strange with someone else sitting in it.Jesus has promised to prepare a place for us, and so often we've interpreted that to mean "space in heaven."
