The phrase “the sun of righteousness” is to be understood in the sense of Isaiah’s prophecies. Righteousness represents the effects of God’s righteousness on this earth: victory and glory (Isa. 51:6–7; 62:1–2). Yahweh shares his victory and glory with his people.
