There are four characters in this play. Their sexes are not at all relevant to the action, nor are their ages.
#1 is somewhat vain and pompous about being told the news first, but is also a bit giddy at the thought of it all.
#2 is a bit dense and slow-witted, but excited and expectant.
#3 has a bearing of absolute certitude, knows what is right and will not be swayed.
The Angel is somewhat condescending and annoyed at having to deal with these people, especially since the number is more than was planned for. At the end, the Angel is very wise and not at all surprised at the turn of events.
