Bishop Bevel Jones of North Carolina tells about visiting a small congregation in the beautiful Smokey Mountains area. The occasion was the celebration of the church's 100th anniversary. After the service a little elderly lady came up to him and said, "Sir, I keep historical records for the church. You are the first bishop to visit our church in 75 years." She hesitated a moment and then added, "But it ain't hurt us none." A church and a Christian can survive without regular visits by a bishop, but we cannot grow and thrive without repeated visitations by God. I refer to those holy moments when God makes a vital difference in our lives, when He has been almost close enough to touch, when he has left a fingerprint on our souls.
