Boys and girls, let's look at a picture together. (Show them the illustration. Have them tell you what it is and what it means.)

Do you think anybody in Bethlehem, besides Joseph and Mary and the shepherds - and maybe the innkeeper and his wife - thought there was anything special going on the night Jesus was born? I doubt it. I suppose they all thought it was business as usual. There was a big crowd in town and one unlucky woman had to have her baby in a stable. But they probably thought there was nothing special going on.
