Object: Some very tarnished silver.

Good morning, boys and girls. How many of you have some silver things around your house? Do you know of a silver tray or a silver bowl that is not used very often? [Let them answer.] Maybe you will remember if you have something silver, when I show you something that I have brought with me. [Show them the tarnished piece of silver.] Do you have anything that looks like this? [Let them answer.] This is tarnished silver. It doesn't look very pretty does it? It isn't pretty. Somebody paid a lot of money for that piece of silver. It was beautiful at one time, and people used to look at it and tell each other what a beautiful piece of silver it was, and how they wished that they had one like it.
