The title for these chapters is taken from the Greek, since the MT buries the phrase in verse 17. There can be no doubt that this section has been influenced by the Egyptian text known as Teaching of Amenemope (about 1100 B.C.E.), but there is considerable difference of opinion on the extent and manner of the influence. There is a certain concensus on the following points. The Hebrew is dependent upon the Egyptian from 22:17 to 23:11.
