Good morning, boys and girls. How many of you have heard people say: "They rolled out the red carpet for him"? (Let them answer.) Do you know what rolling out the red carpet means? (Let them answer.) It means that you are giving an important person some very special treatment. When the President of the United States goes somewhere to speak, they roll out the red carpet. If the King or Queen of England visits another country, they roll out the red carpet. Sometimes we roll out the red carpet for great writers, musicians, or actors. We roll out the red carpet when someone very important to us visits us and we want them to know how much we think of them.
