Wombats are little burrowing creatures popular to New South Wales in Australia. Something like a ground hog, wombats are unusual in that they can instinctively find water beneath the ground. They seem to know just where to burrow. A researcher at Western Sydney University says that wombats are like “water diviners.” They just seem to sense the presence of water.[1] That makes them very popular critters with local farmers, who need underground sources to water their crops and animals.
