Here we are on the eleventh day of Christmas, with Epiphany and the Star, the Wise Men, and the baby Jesus a couple of days ahead of us, and, all of a sudden, we are whisked back to Advent and, behind it, to the very beginning of creation. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." That’s all there was when God went into action, created our solar system, the earth and everything on it, including the human race "in his image." Few of us are ready for such a head-trip; more than likely, we are still thinking about the new year, the various football "bowl" games, rather than Christmas, Epiphany, or Advent. But today, Advent calls us to review what has happened in the light of Christmas and Epiphany, whether or not we are at all ready for this.
