READINGS
Psalter—Psalm 127
First Lesson—The widow Ruth becomes a mother in a second marriage and a great-grandmother to King David. Ruth 3:1-5; 4:13-17
Second Lesson—The role of Jesus as priest is described not only as the going in but the coming out again after the priestly offering is completed. Hebrews 9:24-28
Gospel—Mark contrasts the hypocrisy of the scribes with the sincerity of the poor widow in reporting the observations of Jesus. Mark 12:38-44
