Gospel Note
There seems to be a discrepancy between this parable's original meaning in Jesus' teachings and its intent in Luke. For although the story itself and the concluding commentary by Jesus would seem to be focusing on God's speedy vindication of the elect (in contrast to that of the judge), Luke's introduction concentrates on the necessity that the faithful be persistent in prayer.
