Call To Worship
Leader: This is a good place to be this morning. The world goes on around us while we are in sanctuary. Here, together, we know that evil and good exist in our global village yet we choose to rest a while, giving our psyches and bodies a chance to be tranquil.
People: Sometimes we feel like the philosopher in the biblical essay, “Ecclesiastes,” thinking that “everything is useless.” We work hard and have little to show for it. The sun rises and sets; the wind blows round and round; rivers flow into the sea ... everything seems to lead to weariness! It seems that the more we know and the wiser we get, the more we have to worry about!
Leader: The philosopher, Qohelet, goes on to say that he would enjoy himself and find out what makes him happy.
