No matter how much you might dispute the use of public monies for “artistic” projects, it’s hard to argue with the results — even if you hate them. An artist’s eye is a special angle on the world, and the artistic focus reflects a different vision of what is going on around us. It might not be a “pretty” picture. It might not be something we want to visually record at all. But the artist’s eye is an eye that catches truths in an original prism and reveals territories that a less-honed eye might miss.
