Ruth - a Jewess who serves as the handmaid of Claudia Procula.
The scene opens with Caiaphas standing outside the communion rail, symbolic of his refusal to enter into a Gentile home. He is joined momentarily by Pilate.
Caiaphas: Well, what do you think? A traitor, revolutionary, and seditionist who needs to be executed immediately, don’t you agree?
