Fishermen today (and underwater naturalists) know a term called “Deep Sea Gigantism.”[1] It’s the phenomenon that says in respect to sea creatures –the “deeper the bigger.” The deeper you go, the bigger the fish (and other creatures) will be, because fish grow according to their perceived space.
You probably know this if you’ve ever kept fish in an aquarium. If you keep certain fish in a small aquarium, they will grow to a small size. If, however, you put that same fish into a large aquarium, the fish will grow larger! In fact, some fish in the Arctic waters can grow to super sizes that seem almost hard to believe! Why?
