Today's lesson speaks of the New Jerusalem, the Heavenly City. ''Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first...had passed away'' (Rev. 21:1). When God gets finished with Durham, there will be no sun or moon because the glory of the Lord, present among his people, will be so bright, no other light will be needed (21:23). Here is a new city where the gates need never be shut (21:25), no need for streetlights, police, because in this heavenly town, everything that is wrong with our cities will be set right.
