Boys and girls, today is a special day in the church. What do we call today? (Listen for some answers.) That's right. It's Palm Sunday. And what happened on the first Palm Sunday? (Talk about it.) Does it seem to you that waving palm branches was a strange sort of way to have a celebration? I have a picture here of a palm branch. Just imagine how you might feel, standing by the side of the road, waiting for somebody special to come into town. You are holding one of these big palm branches and when the special person finally comes into sight you start to wave your palm branch.
