Object: A crutch

Good morning, boys and girls. Today I want to tell you a little story about a boy whose name was Amahl. Does that sound like a strange name to you? (Let them answer.) Well, Amahl lived far away across the ocean near the land where Jesus was born. That's why his name doesn't sound quite like yours or mine. Now Amahl was very, very poor. He lived with his mother in a little hut. They were so poor that they had to sell their sheep and their only goat. There was hardly any food in the house, either. To make matters even worse, Amahl was crippled. In order to walk around, he had to use this crutch here, because his one leg wasn't any good at all.
