2:10–17 This subsection deals with the descendants of Ram. The first part of the genealogy is in linear form, tracing the lineage through Jesse. A parallel to this family list can be found in the genealogy attached to the book of Ruth. In Ruth 4:18–22 the same lineage is given, running from Perez through Hezron and Ram to Jesse and David. It is not certain who borrowed from whom in this case. It might be that the attachment to Ruth was made after the example of Chronicles, or that they both incorporated a preexisting genealogy.
