One year during spring training the Texas A & M Aggies' football coaching staff tried an experiment. They attached a small video camera to the helmet of the quarterback. Then they placed a special set of goggles on his face mask with an infrared light that monitored the focus of his eyeballs. In other words, the camera videotaped just where the quarterback concentrated. Consequently, the coaches were able to determine a number of things. Was the quarterback seeing the primary receiver? How quickly did he pick up the secondary receiver? At what point did he look for his safety valve? A good quarterback must focus his eyes on the right object, and he must do it at the precise time.1
