Good morning, boys and girls. Today I want to tell you about a fantastic day that we call the birthday of the Church. Did you know that the Church had a birthday? (Let them answer.) How old do you think the Church is? (Let them answer.) It might be a little hard to get the exact year, but I think that it is almost 1,960 years old. That is pretty old isn't it? It was a day like this long ago when the Holy Spirit came to people like you and me, and made them Christians by filling them with a sense of joy and belonging to God that they had never known before. Do you remember that Jesus said he would send the Holy Spirit to the people after he had gone back to his Father in heaven? He did say it, and he kept his promise.
