Object: Some pills, a thermometer, and a blanket

Good morning, boys and girls. Do you remember the last time you were really sick and had to stay at home in bed? It wasn’t a very pleasant experience, was it?

Being sick had a lot to do with one of our favorite Christmas carols and a man by the name of William Dix. Mr. Dix became very sick when he was just a young man, and he stayed sick for a long time. There was not a lot that a person could do when he became ill a long time ago, except to rest and take the few medicines that they had in those days. For the most part Mr. Dix just sat in a chair with a blanket over him and watched the clouds pass through the sky or the raindrops fall to the earth.
