“Most persons prefer the hell of a predictable situation rather than risk the joy of an unpredictable one.”
We get in ruts and we stay there because ruts are predictable and comfortable.
Security may be our greatest enemy and change a frightening threat.
I ask you -- when was the last time you took a risk? When was the last time you knew real joy? In my experience, the sense of accomplishment and joy is almost in direct proportion to the risk I’m willing to take.
Think about it: is there a person with whom you need to risk a relationship?
A commitment you need to make?
A change in your life or even your job?
A noble but unpopular cause you need to champion?
To march to the sound of a different drummer is demanding. The unpredictable may be frightening, but the promise of joy is there as well -- to break out of the hell of our predictable lives is worth at least considering.
