The Spirit of the Lord is upon me ... (WHY?)

because ... the Lord has annointed me to bring good tidings to the afflicted (not judgmental condemnation)

He hath sent me to bind up the broken hearted (not rub salt in their wounds)

to proclaim Liberty to the captive (not restrict them with prejudices)

and open the prison to those who are bound (not lock them out through my indifference)

These are the directives Jesus took from God’s Word as he preached in his home synagogue. Here he outlined the principles of his participation. When he finished reading these great words from Isaiah, he announced, "Today hath this scripture been fulfilled in your hearing." As followers of Jesus we can rest assured that he calls us to give life-long attention to the fulfillment of the same AGENDA.
