A Sign in the Heavens
Isaiah 60:1-6 · Matthew 2:1-12

Perhaps you’ve heard of the passenger sitting relaxed on an airplane. A man appeared with a parachute. The man asked the passenger, “Would you like to join me?”

“No, thank you,” said the passenger, “I’m very happy where I am.”

The reply came back from the man with the parachute, “Do as you like, but I should tell you, I’m the pilot.”

I don’t know about you, but if I saw a man on a plane carrying a parachute who invited me to go with him who turned out to be the pilot, I believe I would take that as a sign that I need to move.

Our scripture lesson for today concerns three men who saw a sign in the heavens. That sign was a star that led them to a house where lay the newborn King of Kings.
