In 1932 an out-of-work jazz musician, Thomas Dorsey, almost gave up trying to eke out a living. He was on the brink of disbelief, but God's still small voice called him back to life. Dorsey decided he would sing instead of sorrowing, he would love instead of hate, he would trust instead of disbelieve. His hymn sings:

Lent is a season of reflection. It comes from an Old English word meaning "a lengthening." As the days of spring become longer, nature sings a song of renewed life, energy and growth. The emerald tinted leaves, the gentle wafting breezes, the richer blue azure of the sky all harmonize their beauty in spring's eternal symphony of life.

The Easter Parade is passing on us this morning. Dawn is whispering the arrival of hope in the heart of humanity. Dawn, when the women and the disciples stand in humble awe before the open tomb. He is not here. He is arisen. Up from the grave he arose, Jesus, our Savior, Christ our Lord. He arose. He arose.
