The man, knowing he couldn't match wits with Huxley, hesitated. But the agnostic said gently, "I don't want to argue with you. I just want you to tell me simply what this Christ means to you." The man did, and when he finished, there were tears in Huxley's eyes as he said, "I would give my right hand if only I could believe that!"

And that's the truth, we are no good without God. God wants all of us. Not just our heart, not just our mind, not just our soul, not just our strength but every bit of us. And God wants us to bring it to Him like that little girl, and place all we are and have and ever will be at God's Altar.

Out of our commitment to a church or a person or a cause, we let go of what we want... and are made into better people. Every time we repeat something to a forgetful parent... run an errand for a sick friend... play a boring game with a toddler for the thirtieth time... listen to a friend tell a story we’ve heard before... we begin to let go ...

Are you putting off what you know ought to be considered because it may require more of you than you want to give of yourself, time, or substance? It is hard to feel spiritual comfort, or to be satisfied within yourself if these matters cannot be rightly dealt with. We need to take our emotions and our reasoning both into account. We talk a lot about the things that God does for us, and we should because he has done and continues to do everything for us. Years ago there was a man in the west who was caught stealing sheep. They branded him on the forehead with the letters ST, "sheep thief." Later his life changed and he became a model for all. People forgot that ST stood for "sheep thief" and thought it symbolized "saint." This is what Jesus wants to happen in every person's life, including yours and mine. He associated with sinners, had dinner with them, and once explained to his enemies that he came to call sinners that they might become saints of God.
Mark 6:30-44
I feel, and can never cease to feel, myself a partaker in a crime which is constantly being committed, so long as I have extra food while others have none, so long as I have two coats while there exists one person without any. I must seek in my heart at every moment, with meekness and humility, some opportunity for doing the job Christ wants done.

After all, we say, we deserve it! And what do we say to Jesus when he comes to claim us?
